Coming in at #4 on AOL Canada’s “9 in ’09” (a list of bands to watch for), you may not immediately recognize the name “The Hundreds and Thousands,” but you have probably come across Ottawa power-pop band Sterling, from whose ashes “The Hundreds and Thousands” have risen. With a self-titled debut album (or possibly titled Worker Bees according to AOL Canada) scheduled for release on April 28, 2009 (Nettwerk Records), the boys – Ian LeFeuvre, Peter von Althen, and Maury Lafoy – have been hard work, touring with the Barenaked Ladies, working and playing with K-OS, and maintaining projects on the side.
Beginning today, The Hundreds and Thousands’ debut single, “Rat Race,” will be available through iTunes Canada.
If you like what you hear, head over to their Myspace, where you can listen to other tracks, including “Parade,” as featured on NBC’s action-comedy series “Chuck” (2/2/09 – in 3D!).
