Canadian Blast @ SXSW

Featuring the stellar line-up of  Two Hours Traffic, Mother Mother, Beast, Sebastien Grainger & The Mountains, Shout Out Out Out, and The Arkells, the Canadian Blast BBQ & Showcase brought its highest turnout in the event’s 5-year history with 3000 music-loving souls. In addition, Canada further made its mark on Austin, Texas with its new “Canada House,” which showcased 40 artists over 4 nights of music.

JUNO who’s nominated?

The Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (CARAS) announced the 2009 JUNO Awards nominees on Feb. 3rd in Toronto. Winners will be announced at the JUNO Gala Dinner & Awards on Saturday, March 28th, and the awards show will be broadcast on CTV on Sunday, March 29 at General Motors Place in Vancouver, BC.

Notables:
Nickelback earns 5 nominations (JUNO Fan Choice, Single of the Year, Album of the Year, Group of the Year, and Jack Richardson Producer of the Year)
Sam Roberts earns 4 nominations (Artist of the Year, Rock Album of the Year, and 2 for Video of the Year)
