Canadian Blast @ SXSW

Featuring the stellar line-up of  Two Hours Traffic, Mother Mother, Beast, Sebastien Grainger & The Mountains, Shout Out Out Out, and The Arkells, the Canadian Blast BBQ & Showcase brought its highest turnout in the event’s 5-year history with 3000 music-loving souls. In addition, Canada further made its mark on Austin, Texas with its new “Canada House,” which showcased 40 artists over 4 nights of music.

Indies in the Spotlight

TORONTO, Feb. 5 /CNW/ – The artists and bands have been selected! inDiscover.net is proud to reveal the nominees for the 9th Annual Independent Music Awards, “The Indies.” The event will take place on Saturday, March 14, 2009 at 8:00 p.m. at the Fairmont Royal York Hotel, Toronto. The Indies acknowledge, promote and honour achievements of Canadian and international artists in the independent music sector. Tickets for this event can be purchased for $35, at www.cmw.net or by calling 905.858.4747. This year’s host will be Canadian comedian Jon Lajoie with performances by the Arkells, Beast, Crystal Castles, Hey Rosetta!, USS, and Indies Hall of Fame inductees Anvil. The show will be featured live to air on XM Satellite Radio.

JUNO who’s nominated?

The Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (CARAS) announced the 2009 JUNO Awards nominees on Feb. 3rd in Toronto. Winners will be announced at the JUNO Gala Dinner & Awards on Saturday, March 28th, and the awards show will be broadcast on CTV on Sunday, March 29 at General Motors Place in Vancouver, BC.
